Dental Implants

Dental implants can offer you replacement teeth that feel, work, and look like natural teeth. These root replacement devices can provide someone who may have lost their teeth the opportunity to get their smile and confidence back. It also provides the ability to eat food that was once difficult. Bay College Dental Centre in Toronto can perform dental implant placements for a wide array of restorative options.

Implants can provide several advantages:

•    Helps to maintain and preserve your jawbone shape and functionality
•    Enhances your chewing ability by restoring missing teeth
•    Improved speech, particularly when restoring front teeth
•    Enhances your appearance cosmetically

Implant restoration involves placing fake teeth on top of the surgically anchored implants. This can be a single tooth, bridge, denture, or full set of teeth on a patient who lost all teeth.

Dental Crowns

Crowns, or dental caps, are used for both restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Crowns can help enhance the visual appearance of discolored, chipped or otherwise traumatized teeth, and can also be used to rebuild teeth that have suffered decay, breaks, or other issues that have caused them to lose strength.

Unlike composite fillings, dental inlays, or dental onlays—which fill or cover only a portion of a tooth– a crown is a type of dental restoration intended to cover the entire tooth from the gum line up.  Cemented onto your natural tooth, a crown effectively strengthens the tooth, drastically increase its life span and serves as your tooth’s new surface because it completely covers your natural tooth.

Crowns can be fashioned from a variety of materials including gold alloy, porcelain or ceramic, or even a combination of both! Our dentists can provide you with additional information on your crown options, including guidance on which type of material would work best for your crown.

Dental Bridges

Named for the way that they “bridge” the gaps between teeth lost as a result of trauma or decay, bridges restore function at the missing tooth and your smile’s health and beauty by placing durable artificial teeth instead.  If your missing teeth make you feel self-conscious, or you’re noticing problems with speaking, chewing, or other everyday tasks, ask our dentist if a bridge may be the right solution for you. Created and only to be removed by your dentist, bridges offer a comfortable, semi-permanent option that can enhance your smile and improve the health of your natural teeth.  Bridges can be placed either on two teeth or on two implants depending on your case.
